It’s actually kinda ambiguous to find a mentor for this project. Most of the amazing works I found online are from knowledgeable studios. So instead, I tried to find studios that aren’t that big or individual artists. Then, I found this studio called MLEE. A large portion of well-known architectural rendering businesses are the Western. The founder of MLEE is a Chinese and a graduate from China Academy of Art. This little studio sees their work not only as business but also an exploration in art. Based on the interview, MLEE said as for the architecture itself, the depiction must be real and accurate(写实); however, as for the whole image, it needs to be impressionistic(写意). They would choose specific things or ideas that can help to well dissolve the weather, location, and time in the picture and help to develop the spirit in the architecture. Aside from architectural rendering, they also do architecture photography, which allows them to see the actually condition of the architecture and see the differentiation made during different time, under different light, and so can inspire their next performance works.
