“Unhappily, we confront this new situation with an enormous backlog of outdated mental and psychological responses.”

Lots of Mcluhan’s words are talking about new media. How it has effected/would affect our lives and how sticking to old-fashioned solutions would not work for today’s puzzles.
Starting from that point, I thought about a short discussion I watched on TV. A physics professor was saying that autonomous vehicle as a highly convenient and intelligent machine, people still have not been widely using them. Some people question that if accident happens, who/what should be responsible? The car, the carmaker or the person sitting inside? That is the same question people have asked before the automobile was a common thing. So, even though people know that autonomous vehicles are highly possible to be our future as technology progresses, right now, there are still lots of doubts.
There will definitely have failures and mistakes when people are exploring the future, but sometimes we cannot deny that that’s our future.
We need to be open-minded and adjust ourselves to new things. And I know, it takes time.
We look at the present through a rear-view mirror. We march backwards into the future.
